If you are employed and have pulmonary hypertension (PH), you may find that having PH is making your job more difficult. If you discuss this with your employer, they have an obligation (under the Disability Discrimination Act 2005) to consider making ‘reasonable adjustments’. You may decide you want to start working fewer hours or stop working altogether. Whether you can change to part-time working depends on the type of job you have and how flexible your employer is. You should discuss this with your employer.
Before making any changes to your working arrangements, it is wise to seek advice. Some change may have unforeseen effects on your financial situation (eg on your pension or your eligibility to obtain benefits). Before making any decision, consider talking it through with your union representative (if you have one), Citizen’s Advice, a member of your specialist PH team, or the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA UK).
